For over a century, the name Lydick-Hooks has stood for quality, integrity and responsibility. In 1991, we began our second century of service to the homeowners, institutions and industries of Texas with a commitment to excellence in every phase of roofing applications.
From its humble beginnings in Fort Worth in 1891, the Lydick-Hooks Roofing Company has grown into one of the nation’s largest applicators of roofing products. The firm has left its mark over a wide expanse of North Texas on construction projects. Today, from its strategic locations, Lydick-Hooks operates full service facilities in Abilene, Midland, Lubbock, Brownwood and Wichita Falls.
It has been that way since John E. Lydick quit his job with the Santa Fe Railroad, and started his own business, coating metal roofs in Fort Worth, Texas. In the 1900’s, his son, Ned Lydick, began working for him, soon to be joined by J.M. Hooks, who opened a branch in Abilene in 1920.
Joe W. Lydick, was the third generation of the family to be active in the business. He was the roofing superintendent on the roof installation at the Corvair plant (now General Dynamics) in Fort Worth in 1941. The mile-long roof, with nearly 2 million square feet, remains today as one of the largest roofs ever installed on a single building. Joe W. Lydick passed away in 1997.
Ralph M. Hooks Sr. of Abilene, son of J.M. Hooks was Vice Chairman of the Board and Mayor of Abilene. Ralph was also responsible for instituting the profit sharing retirement program for the employees of Lydick-Hooks Roofing. His son, Ralph (Randy) M. Hooks Jr. is Vice-President of all the Lydick-Hooks Companies. Randy is the President and General Manager of Lydick-Hooks Roofing of Lubbock.
The Wichita Falls office is now operated by Blake Morrison, President and General Manager. In January 2016, 38 year employee and President, Audie Meredith, retired in order to have more time to spend with his grandchildren. Jerry Davis, Vice President and 69 year employee retired in April of 2022. John J. Phillips, Vice President, joined the team in 2010. Christina Bobbitt, Financial Business Manager, joined the team in 2015. Dion Cook, Payroll Clerk and Administrative Assistant, started in 2009. Brian Camp joined the team as an Estimator in 2017. Greg Henderson returned to the team at the beginning of 2022.
